Why Premix Powder Costs Your Restaurant Regular Customers

Premix coffee is easy to stock and it never runs out. That is exactly why most vending suppliers default to it. But the cheapest cup on your invoice is rarely the cheapest cup for your business.

What premix actually is

Premix is a powder that already contains coffee, sugar and a milk substitute. You add hot water and nothing else. There is no real milk in the cup, no froth made from milk, and no control over sweetness.

Three ways premix costs you customers

1. People can taste it

A flat, over-sweet cup is easy to spot. Guests, staff and visitors form a view of your place from one sip, and few of them tell you. They just stop ordering it.

2. Usage drops and people walk out for a better cup

In an office or factory, a machine nobody likes becomes decoration. Staff leave the floor for tea stalls, which costs you break time and gives you nothing in return.

3. It weakens your brand

A hotel, hospital or school that serves good food but a premix cup sends mixed signals. The drink is often the last thing a guest remembers.

What fresh milk changes

Taste and texture: real milk, frothed in the machine, gives body that powder cannot match. Consistency: the machine brews each cup to order from real coffee. Trust: people can see and taste that the drink is made properly. At FD Coffee Express we only provide fresh milk solutions. We never supply or support premix, for any client.

Is fresh milk more expensive?

The ingredients cost more per cup. The real question is what each cup returns. A drink people choose to buy keeps the machine in use, and a machine in use is what makes a cup-rate or rental plan pay back. Check your own numbers with our Cup Rate Calculator at www.fdcexpress.com/cup-rate-calculator.

Five questions to ask any vending supplier

1. Does the machine use fresh milk, or a premix powder? 2. Who handles daily milk stocking and servicing? 3. How fast can they install? (We install within 4 working days.) 4. Is the invoice GST-compliant? 5. What are the pricing options: cup rate, rental or purchase?
